Concerning blogs.
Merriam-Webster defines a blog as:
1 – computers : a website that contains online personal reflections, comments, and often hyperlinks, videos, and photographs provided by the writer
also : the contents of such a site
2 – a regular feature appearing as part of an online publication that typically relates to a particular topic and consists of articles and personal commentary by one or more authors
While certainly this blog will focus on the topic of Honduras and Fe Esperanza Amor’s time there and the people there. A blog to show pictures and videos. A blog to keep you up to date and let you know about what we are up to. It will also be so much more.
It is my hope that this blog will turn into a lot of things. I hope it will contain personal reflections of what we see and what is happening. A place to share stories of our trips to Honduras. A place to tell of friends made and people helped. A place for testimony of Gods great works in the lives of many. A place to share hope and joy.
I also hope this will be a safe place. A place where it is okay to share disappointment and heartache. A place to cry and a place to mourn. A place to be real, a place where the honest authentic every day will be acknowledged and celebrated along with the victories.
I suspect sometimes this blog will look like a news article or a newsletter. Letting you know what has gone on over an amount of time. I also suspect sometimes it will be more like a journal of the happening’s day to day. Perhaps sometimes it will be a story of something amazing that has happened. Probably it will sometimes take the form of a call for help. Asking for your help with prayer or funds or coming with us on a trip. The only thing I can guarantee is that it will be filled with spelling and grammar errors and typos.
My biggest hope, however, is that this blog will not be MY blog at all. I hope this will be OUR blog. I hope I will not be the only author. I hope YOU will also write something for it. An experience on a trip you went on. A photo that has a special meaning for you of a friend in Honduras you met. It could be an encouraging post, a personal reflection, an essay, or a poem. Whatever you want.
So, check here from time to time for not only my rantings but also others who have something to say. For minute-to-minute updates check our Facebook page (facebook.com/fe.esperanza.amor) where I will update more often. Specifically, while on trips. You can also check our Instagram account (instagram.com/fe.esperanza.amor.honduras) for photos. While none of these pages has a ton of information posted yet, especially Instagram, hopefully as we get going all of these pages will be filled.
